The restaurant’s philosophy of good food, good service, and reasonable prices continues to serve the children and grandchildren of its original customers.
The Swiss Inn originally opened 50 years ago as a Mr. Swiss. Lonnie Strutton estimates that the Mr. Swiss franchise once had 400 or 500 stores nationwide, including four in Springfield. However, the franchise went bankrupt in the late 70s, leaving the Lebanon location on its own. The Struttons changed the name of the restaurant to Swiss Inn in 1978 after being told that they would be sued if they continued using Mr. Swiss.
I took inspiration for mythical Swiss creatures from the medieval times. This allowed me to connect with the retro look of a block print style on top of a custom badge design in the shape of a delicious mountain burger from Swiss Inn. See how I started the brand process with a moodboard and into a set of logos, icons, typography, and colors.
